Impact Friday at Lake Pleasant Cleanup | November 23, 2018

The Event:

keep nature wild impact Friday cleanup

We hosted our 2nd Annual #ImpactFriday Cleanup along the shores of Lake Pleasant, AZ. A grand total of 6,781 pounds of trash was removed thanks to the efforts of 364 volunteers.

“At this time of year the water begins to rise at Lake Pleasant and getting the beaches clean before the water level reaches it is vital,” says Park Supervisor, David Jordan.

The cleanup event had two goals: cleanup trash around the southern end of Lake Pleasant, and encourage people to get outside and give back on Black Friday rather than in stores waiting in lines.

It doesn’t take much time to have a big impact. In just two hours nearly 7,000 pounds of trash was collected. These events are family friends and people are encouraged to bring their pets. It’s more than just picking up trash, it’s connecting with old friends and meeting new people. Volunteers are encouraged to make friends and buddy up while looking for trash.

“We love the community that Keep Nature Wild has built,” said one volunteer. “This is my 4th cleanup event I’ve attended and it’s always good to see familiar faces, but also to meet new people and make friends.”

Keep Nature Wild hosts cleanups across the US on a monthly basis. Click here to see events coming up!
